About Us
PNR celebrates 10 years online
PNR (ParaNormal Romance), which began as an online reader’s forum with 140 members, celebrated two big milestones this year. PNR is celebrating their tenth year online and our original reader’s book discussion forum paranormalromance@yahoogroups.com now has over 3000 members.
In the past decade PNR has grown right along with the hot paranormal romance subgenre. Over the years the group has expanded to include a PNWriters, a group for paranormal romance writers, PNRnews, PNRattraction - a group for promotional materials, and The Haunt at PNR which gives genre readers, authors and other industry professionals an opportunity for a more intimate social interaction.
The website, which began in 1998 as PNR Reviews, has expanded to offer many more subgenre related features. Paraphernalia is a PNR monthly ezine exploring the various paranormal themes, offering a listing of themed titles as well as interviews with authors of current and upcoming releases.
In 1999 PNR launched PEARL the Paranormal Excellence Award for Romantic Literature, the first literary award strictly for paranormal romance themed titles. PEARL is a readers’ choice award which annually designates the best of the best romances the genre has to offer in ten paranormal categories.
PNR has adapted with the times and now includes MySpace and Shelfari groups and you will find a number of our staff members on Facebook as well.
Our tenth year marked the launch of the PNR Inklings and More Blog which features industry news, reviews, new releases, and the Inklings for Earthlings authors’ column, “Demystifying the business of writing Paranormal Romance”. The newest blog feature, launched in July 2008, is the Staff and Reviewers Top Picks in which Reviews staff present their recommendations from their own monthly reads. PNR is looking forward to beginning a new decade and to discovering new venues to promote the genre we love.
