Sèphera Girón

Hi, I’m delighted to be here today. Some of you may recognize me from the horror world where I’ve had several novels published, four with Leisure books. I’ve written several erotic novels under various names. HUNGARIAN RHAPSODY came out from Orion/Neon books last year and is the tale of a young lady in 18th Century England who is taken from her hellish battered wife life to live in a mansion with a mysterious stranger and his very accommodating servants. HUNGARIAN RHAPSODY has finally made it to North America, so be certain to check it out on Amazon.

When my agent told me about Ravenous Romance, I knew that I enjoy writing erotica and this time, there’s clearly romance involved. I’m still able to add a bit of goosebumps and thrills to my stories so my fans from my horror works can follow me over to my erotic occult romance books.

As well as writing the Sexstrology series, which follows a lady under a specific sign of the zodiac each month, I edited the SEXSTROLOGY ANTHOLOGY and am editing BEACH BOYS: HOT SUMMER FLINGS. My next book for Ravenous will be taking a break from my six astrology books and it’s a gay erotic romance called Lord of the Thighs.

I write the daily horoscopes for Ravenous Romance so be certain to book mark the site to check your forecast each day. Also, let me know how they work or don’t work for you. I always appreciate feedback.

And now for the question of the day:

Why do you think there are so many crossover genres in Romance?

Sèphera Girón: I think people have a lot of different interests and it’s exciting for a writer to explore his or her favourite genre while writing a romance story. Different genres allow for different types of romances to occur. You can have supernatural romances such as with ghosts or vampires or romances with extra-terrestrial creatures. Some authors like to time travel and explore romance with historical figures, real or imaginary such as pirates, Vikings, royalty or even prehistoric man. Other writers like to peer into the future and imagine worlds that don’t yet exist and the types of people and romances that might occur in them. Writers have huge imaginations and sometimes we like to explore possibilities that just can’t happen in real life.

Isabel Roman: Because it is consumer driven. It is no longer what the writer writes - it is what the consumer demands. Moreover, whether people admit it or not - most really enjoy romance with their adventure, sci-fi, horror etc..

Lisa Lane: Romance is a genre that spans a wide audience, and within that audience are fans of every genre imaginable.  Because of that, I see mixed genre romance as not an incongruity, but a necessity.

EM Lynley: As a reader, just a love story where two people find each other isn’t enough to keep my interest. I want an outside influence on the two, and that usually comes in the form of danger, which might add suspense. Or one of them has a magical power, and you have paranormal. There has to be more to the story for me than simply romance.

Jamaica Layne: I think there are just so many great possibilities for good storytelling.  And there are plenty of fans of the various subgenres to make genre crossovers sellable.

Neve Black: Art imitates life.

Inara LaVey: Romance transcends genre.  You can set a story in any genre and still have a romantic relationship at its core.

C. Margery Kempe: Romance comes in all forms-so many stories have some element of romance in them.

Savannah Chase: I think there are so many cross genres because there are endless stories that writers create and they might not fit that one category or genre. Writers are creative and mixing it up to bring to life new stories and ideas that might not have ever been done. They are different and unique.

Angela Cameron: I think it’s because romance readers don’t want just one thing. We’re eclectic. We want the romance, suspense, and the action all rolled into one. Life doesn’t fit into one genre.

Elle Amery: No matter what situation a writer can place characters, love can always prevail. Whether the characters are in the middle of a war-torn country, on a distant planet, or are shifting into the shape of a vampire, love can always find its way into the storyline. Love gives us hope.

pisces___teacher

Pisces: Teacher’s Pet is the story of Adele, a Pisces aura reader, art teacher, and lingerie store owner who has just turned forty. Her new student, Devin, is twenty-five and an immensely talented artist. In this excerpt, Adele has gone over to Devin’s apartment to look at his paintings and they end up sharing their first kiss, among other things.

Excerpt from Teacher’s Pet:

“You’re a very beautiful woman, Adele,” Devin said as he edged a bit closer to her. “From the first moment I saw you…” The words hung in the air. He took her hand and pressed it against his chest.

“Yes?” Adele asked.

“The first time I saw you, I sensed something about you. Something strong and vibrant, a powerful woman with great talent.”

“You see that?” Adele asked.

“Everyone can see that about you. It’s very exciting, meeting someone like you. Running a store, teaching classes, taking time to help people.”

“I try to keep busy. I like being busy,” Adele said.

Devin squeezed her hand.

“Is it too forward to ask if you’re seeing someone?” he asked.

Adele laughed as she blushed.

“Me? No. I haven’t seen anyone in quite a long time. What about you?”

“No. I don’t often meet women I find intriguing enough to take time away from my art for.”

They sat in silence, his hand holding hers tighter. His eyes stared intently into hers and she almost gasped as he leaned forward. When his lips touched hers, Adele realized she was trembling. His lips were soft and light as they pressed against hers gently. When he finished his kiss, he sat back and looked at her.

“Oh, my,” Adele said.

“Was I too forward?” he asked. Adele shook her head as she leaned into him again for another kiss. This time the kisses were hungrier and firmer. They wrapped their arms around each other, and his heart beat into hers. She trembled as he held her tightly, and she ran her hands along the muscular ripples of his back.

He pushed her back on the couch, hungrily tasting her lips, his hands roaming, nervously at first, touching her hair, her arms and finally her breasts.

“Mmm,” she sighed as he squeezed her large fleshy bosom. She arched her back to his touch, her mouth exploring his mouth. She touched his cheek, the fur of his partially grown beard soft under her fingers. She held his face to kiss him better, while his hands explored her body.

“That’s so good,” she said as he slid his hand between her legs. She spread her legs wider for him, enjoying the firm pressure of his palm against her groin. As she kissed him some more, she looked over at the mural. It glowed, the colors more rich and vibrant than they had been before and she thought she could sense some kind of vibration spilling out of the wall.

She closed her eyes again, enjoying Devin’s sweet kisses and tentative touches.

He nuzzled his face into her neck and then sat back to look at her.

“You are so beautiful,” he said, touching her mouth with his finger. “I want to make love to you.”

Adele smiled as she unbuttoned her shirt.

“Make love to me, Devin,” she said as she slipped off her shirt. She stared at his face as she unhooked her bra and tossed it to the floor. She slid off the couch and stood up to undo her pants. She held one arm over her stomach, hoping that the sight of her naked wouldn’t kill his mood.

He stared at her as she leaned back down on the couch, totally naked, ready to give herself to him. Without looking away, he pulled off his own t-shirt and slid off his pants. She studied his body, as toned and youthfully enticing as she had imagined it would be. His penis was firm and rather large.

She held her arms up to him.

“Come to me, baby,” she cooed and he lay against her once more. His warm smooth skin against hers made her heart race faster. She savoured the feel of his nakedness as his lips sought hers out once more. She held him in her arms and he held her. It was surprising how much she had missed the arms of a man around her, and she was ready to give in to him anything he wanted.

EAN #9780425226339

Paperback

Synopsis:
For six years Anya Korbin worked with Del-Rey Delgato—the genetically altered rebel known as the Coyote Ghost—to free a group of coyote women kept in her father’s lab. As Anya matured into a woman, she and Del-Rey grew close…but then he broke his promise and killed her father. Now she must deal with her animalistic desire for the one who betrayed her.

Stephanie says: “I adore the Breeds, there is not a single thing I can say against this series, it’s simply one of the best going. Ms. Leigh can weave a tale that hooks you in from page one and keeps you going through the entire book, right up until you turn that last page. However, this book in particular was especially filled with tension, be sure you can take angst, because this book has it in spades. Del-Rey’s character is domineering and sure of himself and Anya is strong-willed and deeply in love. The emotional conflicts in this book will have your stomach tied in knots, a good and bad thing, depending on your point of view! There was never a dull moment to spare.”

Synopsis:
Mary and Sam, whose paths parted years before, are thrown into a hilarious mix-up when an overly zealous demon decides to play the role of an angel. Malarak breaks the rules of Heaven and Hell in an attempt to reunite the two lovers he thinks belong together. It sounds noble, but it’s mostly a ploy to impress Beliana, the angel who holds the demon’s dark heart. Can a demon do an angel’s job and fix the wrongs in these two lovers’ past, or will everything fall apart like it always does when Malarak tries to do something good? From the minds of fantasy authors Sandy Samson and Anastasia Rabiyah, Demon’s Redemption is a tangled-up tale of true love and acceptance riddled with laughter.

Nancy says: “This short story kept me chuckling throughout and I really felt badly for the humans involved because, as always, nothing goes as planned. Will Malarak get points for doing good even if it doesn’t work like he wanted?  Read this cute story and find out.”

Yep, things are really looking up for me. Welcome to the never boring, anything by normal, you never know what’s going to happen life of Cheyenne Wilde.

Karen says: “Ms. Bell has written a fantastic paranormal tale, keeping true to a teenager’s world. There’s intrigue, mystery and romance spun into the mix as well. This is the first book in the Vânãtor series and I look forward to reading more. This is rated Young Adult, but I believe this tale is for all ages.”

She’s never brought her work home with her – until now.

This time, it’s personal.

Full of twists and turns, this is a book that makes you wish you didn’t have to go to sleep, work or deal with anything else except reading till the very end. Sabina is a strong realistic heroine and the other roles in the book, played by demons, mages and faeries only make things better and better.
This is in the Kim Harrison and Kelley Armstrong league and when this comes out in April I can only suggest that you don’t waste any time in buying a copy, taking the day off and devouring the most satisfying read that you have had in a long time. Synopsis:
Among the Guardians, Alice Grey is known as the Black Widow—a woman trapped in a web spun by the demon Teqon. To save her soul, she agreed to deliver to Teqon the heart of the oldest and most powerful Guardian of all, or else be damned for eternity. After more than a hundred years, Teqon is calling in his debt.

Jake Hawkins is a novice Guardian whose gift of teleportation could be invaluable to Alice in determining her next move. But in aligning himself with her he never expected to fall in love. Now, their passionate flight to escape Alice’s damnable bargain is threatening both their souls. For they’re about to discover a hellish secret about the Guardians—something that will change their universe forever.

Marlene says: “DEMON BOUND is a great paranormal romance with a riveting plot and spectacular characters. Jake is a charming, stubborn, wonderful hero, who just happens to have foot-in- mouth disease–which just makes him all the more adorable. I found myself falling for Jake a little bit. Alice, who is considered creepy by the novices, is standoffish and aloof because of her circumstances, and Jake is just the man to get her out of her shell and stand beside her through the hard times. The banter between these two is, at times, hilarious, and the secondary characters make you want to read their stories. The world Ms. Brook creates is intricate and intriguing, and I’m well and truly hooked. Now, I have the six previous stories to look forward to.”

SEA LORD
(The Children of the Sea: Book 4)
by Virginia Kantra
sealord
Berkley Pub Group
May 5, 2009
ISBN #0425226360
EAN #9780425226360
Paperback

Synopsis:

One family. Three loves that will change their lives . . . and whose destiny could change the world.

For centuries, the children of the sea have co-existed in uneasy peace with their fellow elementals, the children of fire. Now that balance of power is tested as three siblings born of a human father and a selkie mother become embroiled in an ancient rivalry.
Follow their stories: Caleb, the soldier, who returns from the desert to fall in love with a woman from the sea ; Dylan, the loner, who must choose between the freedom of his mother’s kind and the bonds of mortal love; and Lucy, the dreamer, whose heart and fate are tangled with the sea king’s son .

Set off the coast of Maine, the Children of the Sea series was inspired by the Celtic legends of the selkie, immortal creatures of the sea living apart from humankind but able to shape-shift into seductive human form.
SEA LORD: Lucy’s story
He was born of the sea…

Selkie prince Conn ap Llyr denies his deeply sensual nature to rule over the immortal Children of the Sea. But when the Children of Fire threaten the Selkies Sanctuary, Conn must obey his haunting visions and seek a woman thousands of miles away…

She was born on land…

Schoolteacher Lucy Hunter knows nothing about her Selkie heritage or the prophecy that drives Conn to find her. She is content with her life on the quiet Maine island of World’s End. That is, until a proud, compelling stranger appears to challenge her assumptions and awaken her desires.

Their love will tear them between two worlds.

To combat Fire, Conn needs Lucy’s magic — even if this means stealing her away to Sanctuary. As the demon threat grows, so does their passion, overcoming Lucy’s fears and Conn’s guarded heart. But soon they face a devastating choice. Will their love be enough to save them? Or will their destinies tear them apart?

Leslie says:Oh this was a marvelous coming of age story, and the best in a truly excellent paranormal romance series. This book had it all, passion, magic, conflict and a truly amazing heroine. Shy Lucy whom everyone had sheltered and protected rises to the occasion with courage and strength, I dare say surprising all including the reader! Of course there are other surprises in store as well, but I won’t spoil the fun by mentioning them. I truly hope that this Hunter siblings’ trilogy will not be the end of the Children of the Sea tales. Since the novella “Sea Crossing” in the anthology SHIFTER dealt with a previous human/selkie generation, I’m hoping to see the next generation of Hunters grow up and fall in love. Of course Caleb, Dylan, and Lucy must survive this adventure in order for that to occur. I highly suggest reading SEA LORD to discover whether or not they do.”

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other…and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn’t destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just may. For when archangels play, mortals break…

Mippy says: “This is the first book of Nalini Singh’s I’ve had the pleasure of reading and all I can say is, “Wow!” Just…WOW! This book is a high octane, action packed, roller coaster ride that never stops until the last page is turned. I found myself completely enthralled with Elena and Raphael’s story from page one and literally finished the book in 24 hours. With engaging characters and sexual tension between the characters that is off the charts, Angels’ Blood is completely original with a rock solid storyline, and strong, but more importantly, likable characters. I have no doubt that this book will more than satisfy even the most fastidious fans of paranormal romance.”

Synopsis:

Mina is Dark Spawn, half-mermaid, half Dark One. A sea witch who lives in the shadows, she is shunned by the merpeople. She seeks no friendships, however, no lasting relationships. Every day is about surviving, fighting the call of the dark blood within her, which demands she submit her ever-increasing powers to their cause. But Mina submits to no one. Until she meets David.

At thirty, David is one of the youngest angels in the Dark Legion, the angelic host dedicated to eliminating Dark Ones. Unlike many of his fellow angels who feel Mina’s death is inevitable, he believes her power can be used for good. When he entreats his commander to be assigned as her guardian against the Dark Ones, he also finds himself cast in the reluctant role of her executioner, if she turns to their cause.

The only problem is he is falling in love with the prickly sea witch. Which means he might risk the universe itself to turn her away from the darkness, and into his arms.

Sonya says: “A WITCH’S BEAUTY is the second installment of Joey W. Hill’s mermaid series, and Hill skillfully maintains the sensuous mood of the first book while tackling darker themes this time around. David and Mina bear emotional/physical scars issued by the hands of abusive adults and their experiences have affected them profoundly. Mina’s internal conflict comes across in horrific detail as David’s guilt and pain is quietly expressed with heartbreaking intensity. Hill pulls no punches in this tale of innocence stolen, redemption, and the healing power of love. As a result, A WITCH’S BEAUTY engages emotions and satisfies with multi-dimensional characters and a poignant love story. Mina and David endure more than anyone should ever have to (real or imagined) and this reader can’t think of another couple more deserving of their happy ending.”

Synopsis: It’s not smart to piss off a poltergeist…
A Tickle My Fantasy story.
It’s bad enough to be sexually frustrated. But as a medium, it means until Lucy Cartwright gets some, she’s doomed. Oh no, not to death. Worse. To nightly visitations by recently deceased, wanna-be Cassanovas without the bodies to back it up. Then a living, breathing fantasy arrives on her doorstep, and Lucy thinks her dry spell is at an end.

Much as he would like to be Lucy’s personal gigolo, PI Jake Cox has a job to do. He’s been sent to prevent her from getting laid until a particular horny phantom—and key witness in his mob investigation—pays her a visit. The real challenge? Keeping his own hands off Lucy long enough to get the job done.
Or the lonely, geeky ghost of a murdered mob accountant could rip a hole in the fabric of the universe…

Nancy says: “A good book that had me laughing all the way…love, lust, murder, mayhem….what more could you ask for? Seriously, the characters were great, a new plot twist that I enjoyed and I highly recommend this one.”

I’m on trial for my life. Falsely accused of infecting my human ex-boyfriend–and killing him to cover up the crime. Infecting a human is one of three capital offenses recognized by the Pride–along with murder and disclosure of our existence to a human.

I’m two for three. A goner.

Now we’ve discovered a rogue stray terrorizing the mountainside, hunting a wild teenage tabbycat. It’s up to us to find and stop him before a human discovers us. Synopsis:
Amber has no reason to leave the daily turmoil of life aboard a prison ship, created to house those with the violent Cleaven gene. Though now rehabilitated, she has chosen to stay and counsel the inmates who struggle to come to terms with their imprisonment. Possessing extraordinary gifts - an ability to assess situations with perfect clarity and to feel the emotions of others - her skills are in great demand in the volatile environment of the ship.
Jaden, also rehabilitated and with the special gift of mind reading, ploughs the seas on board the boat that delivers supplies and prisoners to and from the ship.
Amber and Jaden are thrown together when the prisoners rebel and an explosion breaches the hull of the ship during a storm. Together they battle the elements, a new, cold-eyed prisoner who has Amber in his sights and their traumatic pasts which sent them to the ship in the first place.

Clover says: “Strong and gripping, this has all the action of a Bruce Willis Die-hard movie where the hero and heroine sneak around the ship in a life or death game of hide and seek, while they try to sabotage the bad guy’s plan without getting themselves killed. Throw in a little paranormal elements with Cleaven Gene abilities running rampant and pass me the popcorn (buttered please) because CRASH INTO DARKNESS has enough thrills and OOOhs to read like I’m watching it on the big screen.”

Paperback

Synopsis:
She’s the most wanted woman in the galaxy.

The war is finally over. But Wren’s life is in tatters. The only living offspring of the notorious Drakken Warlord, her genes could very well start a new dynasty of terror. And the Coalition can’t have that.

She alone holds the key to finding a legendary treasure. Having seen enough bloodshed, shy, petite Wren vows to destroy it before anyone, Drakken, Coalition or Earth, can get their hands on it - but she’ll need help.

The Drakken’s ruthless evil turned Aral toward the Coalition years ago. War is all he knows, until he finds passion and love in the most unlikely of women - the Warlord’s Daughter. But will trusting each other with their secrets risk not only their hearts, but their lives?

Leslie says: “Of all Susan Grant’s novels, this was my favorite of all. It had everything I love in a story - romance, intrigue, action, adventure and of course a happy ending. THE WARLORD’S DAUGHTER took two lost and lonely children, one neglected the other abused, and gave them strength and character to put an entire universe to rights or die trying. Both have the right stuff to do what needs to be done on their own but together they are all but invincible. There is not an abundance of steamy love scenes but IMHO they are not necessary as the connection Ms. Grant establishes between the pair is undeniably soul deep. For a science fiction thrill ride that touches the heart, I highly recommend this tale.”

The cliffhangers in these books always kill me, but they never fail leaving me wanting more! Lucky for us, we don’t have long to wait for our next “fix” because the next Shifter book Prey is set to release July 1, 2009. Synopsis:

**2008 PEARL WINNER - BEST FUTURISTIC ROMANCE**

Everything is different underground. Just ask the residents of Harmony, a futuristic world where alien catacombs can lead you astray - and where psychic senses spark out-of-this-world passion…

Reporter Sierra McIntyre’s stories on Crystal City’s ghost hunters - and their mysterious guild - have earned her tabloid a bit of respect. And they’ve allowed her to clothe her dust bunny companion Elvis in rock-and-roll style. It helps that she has mega-rez intuition to fall back on…

Especially when she interviews Ghost Hunter Guild Boss John Fontana about the disappearances of retired, homeless hunters. She doesn’t want to trust the physically and psychically powerful man, but her senses - and Elvis - give her the green light. To uncover the conspiracy within his own organization, Fontana proposes…marriage. And though it’s purely a business arrangement, there is nothing pure about the attraction that sizzles between them…

Deborah says: “In the Ghost Hunter series, book #5, she is back and as good as ever. She really rocks! Yes, JAK has her formula, but it’s one that works and it’s like coming home to an old friend. I thought Orchid, Amaryllis and Zinnia were some of her top works, and the Harmony series matches that.”

Kensington Aphrodisia
February 24, 2009
ISBN #0758225814
EAN #9780758225818

Synopsis:
DOMINIC, THE LORDS OF SATYR is set in Tuscany and ElseWorld, and includes 2 related stories:
* A full-satyr warrior named Dominic serves as an important weapon in ElseWorld’s war. Things heat up right from page one, when he is sent through the interworld gate to find Emma (Jane’s sister in NICHOLAS) during Moonful for reasons he must keep secret.
* The 2nd story is closely related to the first and involves Vincent (Jane and Nicholas’s firstborn son), who’s brokering a peace treaty in ElseWorld when he becomes involved with a lovely, dangerous female from that world. His brothers and friend Landon are major characters.
They are Satyrs, men endowed with legendary carnal knowledge who demand total and complete control with their sexual prowess…

A Night Of Bliss
Emma anxiously awaits her husband’s return home to Tuscany on Calling night. She hopes that the night-long copulation will draw them closer together for she questions whether they truly love one another. But when Carlo arrives, injured in battle and unable to perform, she learns she must mate instead with Dominic, a lusty, royal Satyr. It is a night of hedonistic passion that leaves her wanting much, much more…

A Moment Of Rapture
Like other Satyr lords, Vincent is driven to mate from dusk to dawn every Calling night. But as a bachelor, Vincent must conjure a female from the mist who will satisfy his sexual needs. While his brothers summon a different partner with each full moon, Vincent calls upon the same one time after time. He wants her to experience the same erotic pleasure he feels and one night she does the magic is real…

Sonya says: “Elizabeth Amber has yet again brought the Satyr world to life with her sensual prose and wonderful imagination. In DOMINIC, suspense and sexual tension are dialed up to a feverish pitch as propriety forces Emma to deny her deepest desires and Dominic glimpses life beyond the interworld gate. In a slight departure from the previous stories, VINCENT is an unconventional love story that is surprisingly humorous in spite of an awful betrayal. Amber writes such unique tales with some of the most despicable villains this reader has ever encountered, thus making the “Happily Ever After” that much more satisfying. This fourth installment of the Lords of Satyr series is no exception and readers who enjoyed the first 3 books will not be disappointed.”

Length: Novel

Ariya is a fairy suffering from mysterious dreams about a dangerous but gorgeous man. Waking up from one of these dreams she finds her family under attack and she goes over to the mortal realm hoping for safety. On the run in a strange place she lands in more danger but is saved by the man from her dreams.

Jace Archane is a vampire who is known for killing the women he feeds from. Ariya is a problem he doesn’t want to deal with but when the danger she is running from also seems to be threatening his world he knows they must work together. However from the first moment it is clear to see that the vampire and fairy have feelings for each other. Can they unite and fight against their common enemy? Can a fairy and a vampire really come together?

This is the first book in the Ashen Twilight series and it makes a good first impression. The reader is thrown into the history of the story straight away and then pulled back to the present and into a place where vampires, werewolves and other paranormal creatures are at work. With two strong lead characters, a nice plot and a good writing style this could turn into a fascinating series.

Although the author isn’t new to the writing world, this seems to be the first step she has made into the paranormal. I did enjoy this read but I have to admit that it was a little too romantic and history based for my liking. However, on saying that the story did have a great Scottish tint to it and I really liked the overall concept.

All in all this is one worth trying and keeping an eye on.  Rae Lori blends romance, history and the paranormal into a special tale and has already got more to come.

Synopsis: Some are drawn to the light. Some are drawn to the dark. Some desire both.
Grayson of Concordia, known on countless worlds as the Duke of Ombra, is a mercenary, a sorcerer of shadows-a man whose soul is consumed by darkness. For Gray, the bleak savagery in his heart is manifest in an entity he calls Shad. He has long resisted Shad’s enticements, but when he is hired to kidnap a fire witch, he seizes the chance to restore his soul-no matter the cost.

Cenda’s heart is ash. Since the death of her precious baby daughter, life has lost all meaning for the fire witch. Slowly, she has worked to master her powers and go on living. But when she encounters Gray, her will is no match for her desire, though her love may not survive the terrible discovery of Gray’s plans.

Sonya says: “THE FLAME AND THE SHADOW is a dark erotic tale that is satisfying on many levels. Readers will enjoy the rich development of this fantastic world and its characters, sharing their amusement and passion while squirming at the chilling horrors they face. Cenda is endearing as the unlikely heroine and Gray is deliciously wicked as the antihero with a mysterious dark side.”

Book 2 in the award-winning Dragon Kin series!

Talaith’s life has never been easy. A goddess has forced her into servitude. Her husband despises her. And all those in her tiny village fear her. But just when she doesn’t think her life can get any worse, she’s pulled from her bed one morning to be burned at the stake for being a witch. What she never counted on was a terrifying silver dragon deciding to rescue her.

Briec the Mighty didn’t really know what to do with a human female. Especially this one. HER WORLD IS TOXIC TO HIM, AND SO IS THEIR ATTRACTION

Among the Shadowdwellers, Trace holds power that some are willing to kill for. Without a stranger’s aid, one rival would surely have succeeded, but Trace’s brush with death is less surprising to him than his reaction to the beautiful, fragile human who heals him. By rights, Trace should hardly even register Ashla’s existence within the realm of Shadowscape, but instead he is drawn to everything about her — her innocence, her courage, and her lush, sensual heat…

After a terrifying car crash, Ashla Townsend wakes up to find that the bustling New York she knew is now eerie and desolate. Just when she’s convinced she’s alone, Ashla is confronted by a dark warrior who draws her deeper into a world she never knew existed. The bond between Ashla and Trace is a mystery to both, but searching for answers will mean confronting long-hidden secrets, and uncovering a threat that could destroy everything Trace holds precious …

Forensic anthropologist Vivien Cairn fears she’s losing her mind. Her libido has kicked into overdrive, and she’s blacking out, leaving hours of her life unaccounted for and no memory of where she’s been or
what she’s done. But when a sexy stranger rescues her from a demon attack, Vivien realizes there’s more than just her sanity at stake.

A seductive killer is luring victims, and Sorcerer Dain Hawkins finds himself walking a dangerous line between ancient duty and sizzling desire when the brotherhood- -and Vivien herself–begins to suspect
that her mysterious symptoms may connect her to the crimes. Can Dain save Vivien from the evil that threatens to claim her? Or will they both succumb to…

DEMON’S HUNGER

Leslie says: “I am a big fan of Eve Kenin’s award winning SHOMI futuristic romances so when the publisher sent me the latest Eve Silver dark fantasy paranormal romance (same author, different name) my reaction was YES!!!!!! I was not disappointed. This is the second book in the Compact of Sorcerers series and there were references to the earlier story but not so much that the book couldn’t stand on its own. I will definitely be picking up the first book, DEMON’S KISS, right away though.

I was mesmerized by this tale. Not for one moment did I wonder if Vivian’s heart was less than pure, but the unfolding of the mystery surrounding the succubus crimes was superbly handled. The romance was hot! Dain is a hero to die for. Sexy and loyal, he relies on his instincts when all evidence points to the contrary. And because the diabolical demon plot has not yet been resolved, one simply cannot wait for the next installment to find out what happens next. Oh yeah, there are several sexy sorcerers still unattached too. Yum. Eve Silver is a truly versatile writer and I can’t wait to see what she tries next.”

But though Cat’s worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover’s finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger.

As if that wasn’t enough, a woman from Bones’ past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat’s about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she’s learned as a special agent won’t help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself - and Bones - from a fate worse than the grave.

Mippy says: “With this latest novel, Ms. Frost has definitely proven that she is one of the bright and shining stars of this ever-growing urban fantasy genre and I, for one, just cannot get enough of her. Lucky for us fans, we won’t have long to wait for the next Night Huntress installment because An Early Grave, book 5, is set to release in late July 2009.”

Synopsis: Three ‘tween sneaker sleuths face the unsolved mystery of Jefferson Davis’lost gold treasure with a little bit of help from a ghostly black fist and divining rods.
Twelve-year-old Anna Mae Botts, her eight-year-old brother Malcolm, and Anna Mae’s best friend Raul Garcia, face a ghostly black fist on their first day of school. It blocks their entrance into school, while dropping paper clues about Jefferson Davis’ lost Civil War gold. Things get more complicated when a school fire occurs.

Mysterious events soon overtake Raul, Malcolm, and Anna Mae at school as well as at home. Rats, alphabet noodle clues, floating chalk, and phantom false-bottom wagons lead the tweens to travel the same route by car that was taken by Jefferson Davis and his gold-laden wagon train.
With divining rods given to her by her granma, computer printouts, and Spirit Journey memories that take her back to a Civil War past, Anna Mae, Raul, and Malcolm find Jefferson Davis’ lost gold treasure, part of it buried on Chennault Plantation and more of it in a vacant lot on the outskirts of Warthen, Georgia.

Deborah says: “It’s a delightful YA book that give kids and teens a mix of history, paranormal and mystery, with a quirky cast of multi-racial characters, filling a void sadly missing in current YA material. This strikes a chord of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew from my childhood, but tailored for today’s YA readers. A promising start for the series.”

Tessa had it rough. She’s been through a lot, mostly at the hands of a terribly abusive boyfriend. Finally free of the horrible man, she’s trying to put her life back together. It’s so hard to get out there and do it, especially when the one guy you really want is your partner at work. He has it all, if only he’d ask her out. With the big Halloween Party coming up, she hopes he’ll say yes and accompany her. Scudder can’t make the party, but he finally makes his feelings known to Tessa. The man of her dreams takes her out for a wonderful night and promises her there will be many more to come.

Scudder knows Tessa has been through a lot at the hands of an abusive former lover. He’s heard the stories and so he waited in order to give Tessa time to heal, because he knows it’s just a matter of time. He will claim his mate, and they will have a long and happy life together. He refuses to ruin it by scaring her off or getting involved too quickly before she’s totally healed. However, he’s never going to let anyone touch his mate again. He wants nothing more than to attend the party with his sexy mate but there are some things shapeshifters can’t avoid; a full moon for one. That doesn’t mean he won’t stay by her side, because some dangers refuse to leave poor Tessa alone, and he never will. Not his mate, not ever.

This was such a terrific story and a great love affair set around the magic of Halloween. I love this fantastic world created by Lesli Richardson. The snarky humor, a trademark for Ms. Richardson, hot sex scenes and action packed excitement will give you a great deal of entertainment, in a short period of time; talk about fun. Do yourself a favor and take a break, kick up your feet and enter Ms. Richardson’s fun world. You’ll have a blast, I guarantee it.

Lindsey couldn’t be happier, well, maybe she could. But she’d worry about putting her life back together later. She was finally in Florida again. It’s been a long haul, and it should be safe to be home now. All she wanted was a jog in the park, is that so much for a girl to ask? It soon becomes apparent that a group of thugs have other plans for Lindsey. When they attack her in the park the largest dog Lindsey has ever seen comes to her rescue. Unable to explain the instant devotion and love she feels for the animal, and it goes beyond the simple fact that he saved her life, she decides to take the dog home with her. Little does Lindsey know, but her life is about to change forever. And it’s going to be for the better.

Ivan just needed a run, he wanted nothing more than to get out and feel the change take him over, blow off some steam. He had no idea something was about to hit him when suddenly he came upon a young woman in the park, catching her intoxicating scent Ivan knows he’s found his mate. Too bad the poor jerks that attacked her chose his mate to go after. Once Ivan gets a look at her, he vows he’s never letting her go, because he’s found the one, finally. He’s been searching for her his whole life. Ivan senses there’s something else in her life that’s wrong, he just can’t figure it out. Soon, what’s wrong is revealed to him, and now it’s up to him to save her and keep her safe from harm. He will have lots of walks in the park with his mate if he has anything to say about it.

Ms. Richardson has written a fun romp, what a walk in the park… a Dog Walk that is. It makes a girl want to run out to the Dog Park! I thoroughly enjoyed this short story set in Lesli Richardson’s world of shapeshifters. Seriously, if you’ve got an hour to kill, a little time on your hands, you will love it too. It was a great story, a fun romance, with lots of heat; sorry, pun intended, I couldn’t resist! This is the second short I’ve read that Lesli has set in this world of shapeshifters and I can honestly say, I look forward to many more shorts in this series. I highly recommend Dog Walk.
